CWK two headed water dragon

Events – A Brief History

Our association is a small one but we pull well above our size.

CWK is a member of the national governing body for Kung Fu in both the UK and NZ. Our Chief Instructor does not like competitions as he says they distract from our normal training. Regardless of this fact he has encouraged student to take part in competitions so that they can “test hands” to see if what they do works.

In the UK when Shifu Ray was living there, his students entered the British Championships during the period 1992 to 2006. Our team of Juniors/Youths were the British top team at this annual event for 13 consecutive years.

In NZ we have not been interested in competition but in 2023 Shifu Ray agreed to take part in a multi-style event in the local area between Thai Boxing, Taekwondo, Karate and Kung Fu. It was a relatively small event with 90 competitors. We entered 12 students and took 12 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze medals in the 30 categories that were available, once again proving the strength and depth of our system. In this event we also took the top four awards for Junior Champion, Intermediate Champion, Senior Champions and most coveted Overall Champion.
